Deep Play Group
As a GROUP our plan is to expand and enhance our modes of assessments (formative and summative) in and out of the classroom.
We also articulated our INDIVIDUAL goals for the year:
Al wants to use kits (such as “makey makey”) and classroom sets of chromebooks. He wants to focus on methods which will streamline his grading practices.
Shujuana is planning to focus on cross curricular assessment and incorporate multimedia tools.
Melanie is hoping to use tools to quickly grade/assess student work (quick response) and encourage student self-assessment.
Luke will strive for student created assessment, a nontraditional approach.
During the eleven face-to-face days we had, I was struck by the two things: the components of instruction that makes it “stick” and the “quick-fires” we did. I thoroughly enjoyed making these short videos and realized how these can be used to substantially enhance student interest and promote enduring understanding.
My plan for the year is to make videos to both explain concepts and stimulate student interest. I used LEGOS for the video I made for this class and I am hoping to use them again.
My MAIN goal for this year, however, is to have students create videos to demonstrate the concepts they have learned. I have never done this before so I am looking forward to tapping into the creativity of my students in this manner. I hope these will promote student interest and I am planning on using them for assessment purposes.
